Bars Scene
The Okanagan and Shuswap area is well known as a vacation paradise. Its
nightlife is very much centred around the interests and needs of the area's
tourists. Those along the Shuswap Lake often travel in groups and rent a houseboat, while those
travelling to the Okanagan are vacationing alone or in pairs, and looking for more hectic action.
Kamloops tends to attract skiers to nearby resorts, as well as those travelling along
the Trans-Canada highway and the Coquihalla. Local pubs are popular with those
looking for a social drink.
The dramatic growth of some of the region's cities over the past
decade (particularly Kelowna) have created a critical mass of population to make more
"big city" establishments viable year-round.
